Obama using his office in the White House to get what he wants is nothing new. Yet, with this recent act of puppetry, may have reached an all-time low.
June is Immigration Heritage month and Obama is using that as ammunition to get the people of America thinking about the positives of immigration (no doubt another one of his schemes to stop supporters from voting for Trump). He’s not doing it alone though, the master never does his own work, he has his puppets do it for him. According to Fox News, the White House Director of Public Engagement recently sent out emails to a handful of A-List celebrities with “talking points” that the Obama administration hoped they would post on to social media.
Not only were short talking points given but hashtag ideas were also in the email, such as #ImmigrantHeritageMonth and #IAmAnImmigrant.
The A-Listers were reportedly asked to spread the following messages:
- June is Immigrant Heritage Month and I stand with immigrants. Share this video to celebrate the monumental contributions immigrants have made — and continue to make every day!
- #IAmAnImmigrant honors each of our families’ sacrifices, struggles, and successes – America’s strength is reflected in our diversity built over generations.
- Now, more than ever, it’s important we stay united. I’m proud to be part of the #IAmAnImmigrant movement.
- We’re so excited to join the “IAmAnImmigrant movement.
Of course A-Listers in Hollywood are used to getting scripts that they then mimic and imitate, but to drive the point home Obama added a video, that had celebrities like Kerry Washington, that urged other celebrities to ban together in the IAmAnImmigrant movement. The video was attached along with this message:
“We are a nation of immigrants, and whether you are an immigrant, the child or grandchild of immigrants, or you stand with immigrants — it’s on all of us to ensure that we continue to recognize the role immigrants continue to play at the core of this country.”
This isn’t the first or the last time that the White House will use influential people to propagate their ideals to the public. A few months ago they sent an almost identical email out with talking points on gun control, which Ashton Kutcher and Mark Ruffalo were eager to follow.
Who knows what they will send out next.
